Local Lists of Buildings and Other Heritage Assets
Around half of all local planning authorities have produced lists of buildings and sites with a heritage interest of local significance.
Although not all of these have been adopted as part of local development plans, they provide a very useful record of local heritage assets which have not been included on the National Heritage List for England, (the designated heritage assets) and are sometimes referred to as 'non-designated heritage assets'.
Although non-designated heritage assets are not formally designated, their significance may still be recognised by national or local planning policies when proposals affecting these assets are considered in the planning process.
These lists should be available on local authority websites in their planning section or found in the local historic environment record.
