Definition: National Amenity Societies

The following amenity societies are identified in a Government circular 09/2005 as being the National Amenity Societies. This means that they must be notified by the local planning authority of any application to demolish all or part of a listed building.

They are:

~ The Ancient Monuments Society

~ The Council for British Archaeology

~ The Georgian Group

~ The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings

~ The Victorian Society

~ The Twentieth Century Society
