Dr Johnson’s House

A glimpse into the world of Dr Johnson, compiler of the Dictionary of the English Language.

Event:

Dr Johnson's House after hours
Late-night opening until 8.30pm

A rare opportunity to explore the historic interior of Dr Johnson's 18th-century townhouse, at twilight, in this special late-night opening. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and experience a spring evening in true Georgian-style.

All four floors of the house will remain open for visitors to view our current displays and you'll have the chance to listen to the curators tell you more about Johnson, his contemporaries and literary London.

Head to the top of the house for a chance to view items from the collection not normally on display, or leaf through the facsimile dictionaries in our library.

Our usual admission fees apply. No booking necessary, do drop in!
