Volunteer to be 'Our Eyes on Islington'
Join volunteers in the London borough of Islington to survey locally listed buildings for a unique public resource.
The Building Exploratory will lead a group of volunteers to review Islington's locally listed buildings. These are buildings considered to be important for their architecture, history or distinctive character. Volunteers will visit, photograph and research buildings to ensure there is an up to date record of these locally important sites.
You don't need any prior experience to take part. Training will be provided by historic building experts, local conservation officers and professional photographers.

The aim of the project
The information you gather will be added to an online database and become part of the Greater London Historic Environment Record.
Local authorities are responsible for the care and conservation of locally listed buildings, but need up to date information about their condition and significance when evaluating development proposals and planning applications.
The Building Exploratory in partnership with Islington Borough Council and Historic England is carrying out a survey of Islington’s 1,200 locally listed buildings in order that up to date, comprehensive information about these buildings is publicly accessible.
