Collection: Arthur Richard Dufty Collection

Description

The collection contains cuttings, correspondence, files, measured drawings and photographs collected or created by Arthur Richard Dufty. Dufty (1911-1991) worked for the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England between 1937 and 1973, with responsibility for the National Monuments Record, including the National Buildings Record (1964-1973). He was also President of the Society of Antiquaries between 1978 and 1981.

The photographic prints within the collection are organised by county, with an index, and primarily date from the early 20th century. The identity of the photographer is not known. Subjects include vernacular architecture, ruins, historic sites and landscapes.
