Description

Collection of 35mm photographic slides of stained glass of national scope, as well as slides of architectural drawings.

A handlist is available.

Archival History

The collection was given to the NMR by Birkin Haward in 1999.

Architect, Birkin Haward (1912-2002), was at the Bartlett School of Architecture, London from 1932 to 1934 and then joined the office of Mendelsohn and Chermayeff. He was part of the firm of Johns, Slater and Haward after World War Two. In retirement, he researched and published books on stained glass, mediaeval church arcades, and buildings in his native East Anglia.
