Description

A collection of forty-six glass plate negatives, dating from 1907-1909. The negatives predominantly show churches in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, and the majority have been annotated with locations and original negative numbers. The envelopes have also been annotated with the phrase 'Wellington Speedy', which presumably refers to a photographic process invented by Wellington and Ward Ltd.

In addition to the photographs of churches, there are several unidentified views of rivers and village houses, alongside two views of Corfe Castle, and three views of Christchurch Priory in Dorset. Several of these images include a woman, and they may have been taken while on holiday in the Dorset and Hampshire areas.

No further information is known regarding the provenance of this collection, or the identification of the photographer. It is possible that there may be a link to the architect Henry Thomas Hare (d1921) but this has not been confirmed.
