A detailed view of the plaster ceiling in the dining room of Bishopthorpe Palace

The palace was built for Archbishop Walter de Grey in the 13th century, with alterations made throughout the 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
The dining room ceiling is divided into large plaster squares, with relief plasterwork and finials in the centre.
