Description

The house is now part of Bootham School, which neared completion in 1804. It was designed by Peter Atkinson for Sir Richard Vanden Bempde Johnstone.

The firepalce has a sinple surround and a tall frieze divided into three sections, with the middle one protruding slightly. The panels all have relief cavings of foliage, with leaves on the outer two and flowers on a vine in the middle.
