The current house is an early 17th century rebuild of a 16th century house. It was divided in the 18th century and was restored in the 19th century. The house is situated on Minster Yard, north-east of York Minster. The staircase may be at the back of the entrance hall, and has a moulded handrail and square newels on the balusters.
The house is now cared for by the National Trust.
