The town house is dated 1752, with some 19th and 20th alterations and extensions. It was most likely built by John Carr for Sir John Bourchier of Beningbrough. The staircase is cantilevered, which is where the stiars are affixed to a wall, and has a balustrade with alternating fluted, turned and twisted baulsters.
