The house was built for the Vavasour family around the late 16th to early 17th century. It has some medieval material in the core of the build. The west elevation has six bays of two storeys and a basement. The entrance is in the fourth bay and accessed by a flight of steps with short pilasters at the base, capped with ball finials. To the elft is the north wing and a partial view of the east front roofs.
