Description

Originally, the River Parrett flowed right up to the castle wall and this arched entranceway provided access into the castle through the east wall for those arriving by boat. The associated undercroft can be accessed from nearby Chandos Street and the former east wall of the castle can be seen at the corner of Chandos Street and West Quay.
