Description

The misericords in Sherborne Abbey were installed after 1436, when a fire damaged the building. There are thought to have originally been more misericords: at one point all the misericords were removed, and ten are now in the stalls in the choir. This misericord is located in the fourth stall on the south side of the choir. It depicts a kneeling boy drawing a bow and shooting to the left. This is supported on the left by a boy riding a horse, perhaps a hobby-horse, and on the right by a boy riding a lion.
