Description

Carlisle Cathedral has forty six choir stalls, each with a misericord. The stalls and misericords are believed to have been erected between 1400 and 1419. This misericord, in the fourteenth stall from the west on the north side, depicts two birds - perhaps storks - feeding from a sack on the ground between them. The misericord is supported by a leaf to the left and right.
