Detail of the Weeping cross, a section of a Saxon cross north of All Saints' Church. The cross has no shaft or head, but two round stones which possibly made up the plinth. The bottom stone has eight curved recesses which could be for the faithful to kneel in, or, if the plinth was higher, for them to place their bowed heads. The top stone tapers towards the top slightly, and has a rectangular niche in the top, which cannot be seen in the image, but is likely to be for the shaft of the cross. The church was built in 1395, and it is uncertain whether the cross was originally further south on the church site and moved to its current position or not.
