The photographer’s notes state: ‘The Merchant Venturers' Hall at the corner of Marsh Street (east side) and King Street (north side) from Prince Street. The entrance at the top of the steps in the Marsh Street (west) end.
The Merchant's Arms on extreme right.'
Noted in red: ‘The Hall was very badly damaged in air raids before June 1941 and most of what was left was cleared away by Sept. 1942. (see a.118 photo).
The Merchants' Arms was demolished in the summer of 1936 to make way for the new Western Road.'
