Description

Kent's most famous windmill, and at 22m the tallest in the country, is landmark visible for miles around the town and was built in 1814. Standby power was provided by a steam engine in 1863, a gas engine in 1919 and an electric motor in 1954. It is still in working order and is open to the public.
