Description

The old bridge over the River Thames at Kingston was replaced with a toll bridge, opened in 1828. A notice on the tollhouse reminds users that "Tolls on Kingston Bridge do NOT cease on the 1st day of NOVEMBER 1863". Following a local campaign, the bridge was released from toll in 1870.
