Description

The photographer's notes state: 'Elm avenue in the blue bell woods. To the N. east of the house. Looking downhill towards the valley. Early morning'.

Foots Cray Place was a large 18th century house, modelled on an Italian villa designed by Andrea Palladio. It was demolished in 1950 after being extensively damaged in a fire the year before. The gardens and grounds of the house are now part of Foots Cray Meadows.
