Description

The photographer's notes state: 'French garden. N. west part. Early morning'. [The exact location of the French garden within the grounds of Foots Cray Place is unknown]

Foots Cray Place was a large 18th century house, modelled on an Italian villa designed by Andrea Palladio. It was demolished in 1950 after being extensively damaged in a fire the year before. The grounds of the house are now part of Foots Cray Meadows.
