This is a photograph of an earlier photographic postcard. It is believed that the image was photographed by PEW Street c1925-1950.
The photographer's notes state: 'Copy. High Street looking east. Blackney's Smithy on near left. No 27 just beyond. No 118 (further) & 116, the low and deep roofed block in middle distance on S. side. (This photographic post card view taken before 1925)'.
The Castle Hotel was located on the south side of the street, close to the present location of 142-144 Eltham High Street.
The lower left corner of the image is marked 'H. C. Digby, Eltham.' which may refer to the publisher of the postcard.
