The photographer's notes state: 'The house. West front from S.W. across the pool. The great ash tree in the foreground on right. The gardener's cottage behind. The two lofty horse-chestnuts on extreme left'.
Effingham Lodge was located on the west side of the High Street, opposite the Rookery and to the south of Spring Hall. It was demolished some time after the Second World War.
