The photographer's notes state: 'Looking S. up the pool. The great ash on left. Island in the centre of the pool. The second island just shows to the right of the first one'.
Effingham Lodge was located on the west side of the High Street, opposite the Rookery and to the south of Spring Hall. It was demolished some time after the Second World War.
