The photographer's notes state: 'A glimpse of the herbaceous border from among the trees by a stream (not the river) going into the great pool in the middle distance. The stream in foreground. Looking E.N.E'.
Effingham Lodge was located on the west side of the High Street, opposite the Rookery and to the south of Spring Hall. It was demolished some time after the Second World War.
