Description

The photographer's notes state: 'North (entrance) front from N.W'.

The house, originally known as Walden Manor, was once the home of WIlliam Cook, the creator of the Orpington Buff breed of chicken. It was around the time of his occupation, at the end of the 19th century, that it was renamed Orpington House. The name was changed back to the original in the mid-20th century.
