Description

This is a photograph of an image printed in a newspaper. It is believed that the image was photographed by PEW Street c1934-1950.

The photographer's notes state: 'Copy. Looking south down the High Street from by No 118. The first three houses from right to left on the west side of the street are the Smithy, No 122, Bond's shop, previously William Joyner's shop. Joyner was the receiver of letters before the postoffice was started. The white house in the middle of the picture is Dorpentune House. The north end's east edge of Falkland Lodge just beyond can just be seen. The trees on right are just in front of No 118 at the corner of Broom Hill Rd. Miss Sarah Wells' shop was at No 118. (From a reproduction in the Sidcup & Kentish Times of May 18th 1934 of a photograph taken by the later Mr William Mansfield about 1899).

There is an additional note stating: 'Bond's shop was demolished a few years later'.
