Description

This house was originally a two-roomed cottage known as Shoreham Cottage. In the early 20th century it was rebuilt to the designs of architects Moscrop Young & Glanfield for its then owner Sir John Roger Burrow Gregory (1861-1938) who also commissioned this photograph. Gregory was elected Governor of the Foundling Hospital in 1892, and was the Hospital's Treasurer between 1914 and 1938. The photograph also appears in 'Recent English Domestic Architecture (Vol 5): Being a Special Issue of the Architectural Review' (circa 1913).
