Description

Originally built as an aquarium in 1876, it acquired the name the Royal Aquarium after visits from the Prince of Wales in 1881 and 1882. The aquarium was not a financial success, however, and it was sold and redeveloped as a theatre c1883. It is now a cinema.

The stage setting appears to be the interior of a classical building, either Greek or Roman.
