Description

A print of this image is in the RCHME Inventory Notes for Cranborne, 1 of 2, Dorset V. This image is printed in the RCHME Inventory Volume, Historical Monuments in the County of Dorset, Volume V East. The 9th century carving is made of limestone and is a fragment of a cross. The fragment was discovered in 1935 in a pond, 150 yards north-east of the church. The origin of the carving is unknown, but is presumably from an early religious building.
