Description

Robert Dudley, then Earl of Leicester, made substantial additions to the castle in preparation for Queen Elizabeth I's visits, including the remodelling of the old keep, the construction of new ranges of accommodation including the building pictured, stables, an outer gatehouse and the Pleasure Garden.
