MUCHELNEY CP - ST42SW 8/219 Medieval stone coffin and lid in churchyard against south wall of chancel, Church of SS. Peter and Paul - GV II

Stone coffin and lid. Probably early medieval. Ham stone. Shaped coffin, hewn out of single stone, plain lid shaped to fit. Presumably found during the 1873 excavations of the Abbey (q.v).
