LONG SUTTON CP HERMITAGE ROAD (East side) ST42NE UPTON 6/163 Thatched Cottage - II -

Detached cottage. Possibly early C17. Local stone roughly squared and coursed; thatched roof with plain gables; small brick and chimney stacks. Single-storey with attic, 2 bays. Cross-glazed casement windows of 2 lights under timber lintols; between windows boarded door in heavy frame, with open timber porch having corrugated iron lean-to roof; to right of bay 2 a simple glazed stairlight, and above bay 2 still casement set in swept domer. North gable wall of different build, and may represent shortening of a longer house. Interior not seen, but reported is a spiral stair in south west corner, and two crossbeams with chamfers, one with semi-circular step and runout stops. (VAG Report, SR0 Unpublished, 1983).
