MUCHELNEY CP - ST42SW 8/206 Gateway to churchyard, 15 metres north of Church of SS. Peter and Paul - GV II

Gateway. Earlier C19. Ham stone piers; wrot and cast-iron gates and overthrow. Piers about 450 mm square and 1.25 metre high; shaft panelled over 2 sides, with cinquefoil cusping at head; pyramidal caps with moulded undercoving: wrot iron simple semi-circular arch overthrow with holder for lamp set into caps: gates of square rod, about 900 mm high, with spear points to middle rail and cast trefoil ornament to tops. Important in setting to Church of SS Peter and Paul (qv).
