LANGPORT CP THE HILL (North side) ST4226 11/109 East Gate, with front boundary - railings GV II

Detached house. Mid C19. Local lias stone cut and squared, Ham stone dressingsi plain clay tiled roof between stepped coped gables; brick chimney stacks. 'L' plan; 2 storeys, 2 bays, of which the easternmost is a gabled projection.

Plinth, ashlar quoins; casement windows in chamfered and toothed ashlar surrounds, small bow window lower bay 1 and window to upper bay 1 set in gabled dormer; in corner right of bay I a lean-to timber and tiled porch protecting boarded door in chamfered ashlar surround. Interior not seen. Immediately south of house low stone wall with Ham stone copings, on which is set railings with cast iron spear points; matching gate with larger points and scroll braces to posts. Important element in setting of Church of All Saints (qv)and the Hanging Chapel (qv).
