BENSON ROAD 1.

5104 Winson Green B18 Benson Junior School SP 08 NW 6/1 II GV 2.

Circa 1890. Brown brick and buff terracotta dressings. Central spire with, to Allens Road, 6 gabled bays, that on the left treated differently from the others and that on the right smaller than these. Each gable with a big pointed arched window with mullions and flanking smaller lights as though Palladian windows; the small gable on the right with a single pointed arched window. Between bays 3 and 4 the tower rises above a modern brick addition.

Square base turning octagonal by means of broaches. Gables to east and west along the long axis and then an octagonal slated spire rising in 4 stages, the 2nd louvred and the fourth a little cupola with iron finial. On the return, 4 similar gabled bays, the fourth advanced.
