SS 54 SE EAST DOWN CHURCHILL
2/9 Lower Churchill Farmhouse GV II
Farmhouse. C17, possibly earlier origins with C18 wing. Slate rubble rendered on south and west sides. Slate roofs with gable end stacks. Stone stack on south gable of C18 wing projects and has set-offs. C17 range to north with C18 wing forming T-shaped plan. 2 storeys. C17 block has C20 casement on south side and doorway with glazed door with slated head. C18 wing has large round- headed stair sash with intersecting glazing bars above 9 panes per sash. One first floor sash of 6 panes per sash and 1 C20 ground floor casement. East garden front has 3 sashes on first floor with glazing bars, that to right has timber lintel above C20 ground floor window in projecting gable. Interior has chamfered beam at east end of C17 wing. Kitchen wing to north demolished.
