House and bank, now offices and public library. 1881 with C20 shopfront. Red sandstone ashlar ground floor with patterned tile- hanging on upper storeys, steeply pitched slate roof. Norman Shaw style. 3-storeys and attic, 2:3 bays and slightly curved facade. 8-light mullioned and transomed windows on ground floor with C20 shopfront, mixed fenestration above of wooden oriels jettied out on carved grotesque corbels with hipped roofs and carved panels of decoration; wooden mullioned casement windows with and without carved panels of decoration below. These panels depict stylised fruit, human figures and mythical animals in the style of the Norwegian stave church carvings. Gabled dormer windows, lighting only the roof space. Two centred arch and double wooden door on ground floor right-hand bay, originally the entrance to the bank. Interior: wooden stair hall with queenpost roof and curved windbraces, galleries on each floor.
