11/193 Retaining wall, raised pavement, steps and cast iron handrails, South of Mansell House -
Retaining wall and raised pavement, steps and handrails. Wall: red sandstone random rubble, with stone coping, about 1 metre high; pebble laid pavement above; flight of 4 steps at West end, segmental headed opening to East with double wooden doors giving access to basement of Mansell House (qv). Reputedly, the kitchen and services were originally located in this basement. Steps flanked by sturdy cast iron handrail, returned on pavement, partly missing. These are all the property of Mansell House (qv) and form part of an attractive feature of Fore Street.
