Description

This information is taken from the statutory List as it was in 2001 and may not be up to date.

SD 62NW SAMLESBURY ROACH ROAD

6/103 Stanley House and Stanley Coppice 11.11.1966 Farm Cottage (Formerly listed as the Hollins (mall House (on S side of road) Slanley Coppiers Farm - II Cottage (adjoining the Hollins))

House and cottage, C17 with bay added to left C18 and cottage to right C19. Roughcast over stone, with stone slate roof and 2 chimneys.

Two storeys and now 5 bays, of which the second and third formed the C17 house, with baffle entry protected by substantial 2-storey porch.

This has a doorway offset to left, string, and 3-light stepped window with hoodmould: the lights are round-headed with hollow spandrels; and there is a blocked circular opening in the apex. The porch gable and kneelers bear ball finials. To either side the string is continued, but the only feature of interest is the very small ground floor window in the 1st bay. There is one double-chamfered stone mullion window at ground floor in the rear wall of the 2nd bay. Interior of house has chamfered beams, and there is a blocked 3-light stone mullion window (now lacking mullions) in the front wall of the porch below the level of the string, at the landing of the present stairs.
