SU 16 NW WEST OVERTON LOCKERIDGE DENE (south-east side) 9/146 Dene Cottage GV II Detached cottage. C18. Brick front, rubble gable, rear third brick, two-thirds sarsen, hipped thatched roof with main stack in brick off-centre. Smaller lofty stacks to left. Lobby entrance 3- cell plan with later extension on left, sarsen and thatched. Two storeys to main building. Two-light casement windows with segmental brick heads, but 3-light to right of door on ground floor. Pair of 3-panel bead flush doors under thatched porch opposite stack. Planked door to extension and one 1-light and one 2-light casement windows and a square hatch to extension.
Interior has crude chamfered spine beams and winder stair. A characteristic cottage in an important setting in this village, awaiting renovation at time of inspection (January 1986).
