WASHFORD PYNE LOWER BLACK DOG SS 80 NW 6/281 Brindifield and The Cottage - GV II
2 cottages. Circa mid C19. Plastered cob or rubble; rubble stack topped with C19 and C20 brick; thatched roof. Pair of semi-detached cottages facing south with Brindifield to left (west) and The Cottage to right (east). Cottages have mirror plans either side of party wall comprising a heated inner room and outer entrance lobby with stairs. Large projecting rear lateral stack is shared by both cottages.
2 storeys. Symmetrical 4-window front of mostly original casements with glazing bars. Only ground floor right window (The Cottage) has been replaced in C20.
Doorways each end. Both have original porches with slated gable roofs, crested ridge tiles and shaped bargeboards. Roof hipped each end.
Interiors have plain carpentry detail where exposed. Included for group value.
