MORCHARD BISHOP FORE STREET (north-eastside) SS 7607 - 7707 Morchard Bishop 11/150 No. 4 - 26.8.65 GV II

Cottage. C18. Plastered cob on rubble footings; rubble stack topped with C19 brick; thatched roof. 2-room plan cottage with central entrance facing south-west set between Nos 3 and 5 Fore Street (q.v.). End stack serving left (north-western) room. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 2-window front of late C19 - early C20 casements with glazing bars. Central doorway contains late C19 - early C20 plank door and C20 monopitch, felt-roofed porch on plain posts.

Interior has plain carpentry detail. Cottage is one of a row of 13 cottages which together form the longest continuous run of thatch-roofed buildings in Devon and probably and longest run in England.
