WOKINGHAM ROSE STREET SU 8168 NW (North west side) 18/43 Nos. 16 and 18 2.10.69 G.V. II Wealden hall house, now shop and offices with flat over. Early C15, refaced and extended late C16, altered and extended late C20. Timber framed, painted stucco, part painted brick; old tile gabled roof. L-plan of 5 framed bays and 3 framed bay extension. Former hall and cross passage in second bay from south west end, small former stair turret at rear behind second bay from north east. Continuous jetty on south east with curved.

bracket on each bay; way through to rear yard under north east bay. 2 storeys. Late C16 chimney inserted in former cross passage; central on ridge. Similar chimney at rear adjoining C16 extension. Road front:- Jettied. 5, C19 windows in moulded architrave frames on first floor.

Small continuous moulded fascia above early C20 shop fronts, with 2 glazed entrance doors. Storey height way through to yard on right hand with pair of large planked doors. Interior:- Some frame exposed. Heavy beam chamfered and stopped, with wide joists on ground floor in second bay from right. 2 recessed posts of former recessed bay in first floor living room. Queen strut roof with large curved struts and windbraces, clasped purlins; principal rafters reducing at collar level. Smoke blackened timbers over former hall.
