SK 36 SE TOWN OF CLAY CROSS HOLMGATE ROAD 2/28 (North Side) Holmgate House GV II

House. 1727 with minor C20 alterations. Coursed, squared sandstone. Sandstone dressings and quoins. Steeply pitched C20 concrete tile roof. Moulded stone copings and kneelers to gable walls. Two stone gable end stacks with moulded cornices. Continuous first and second storey plain stringcourse. Two storeys, plus attics , four bays, L-plan. Central quoined. flush doorcase with C20 studded wooden door. To either side pairs of 2-light flush mullion windows. Over door, plaque inscribed 'HM 1727' and lead fire insurance plaque. Above, four 2-light flush mullion windows. All fenestration C20 casements. Large early C20 mullion and transom stair window to western rear wing. Blocked attic windows to gable ends.
