Memorial with statue. 1884. By JE Boem, sculptor. Dressed granite. Square plan. Stepped base to vermiculated plinth ramped in to polished pink granite chest with moulded white granite cornice and sloped in as base to large bronze statue of Sir Francis Drake with globe under his right hand and his left hand on his sword. Low perimeter fence with granite plinth and chains between turned cast-iron stanchions. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N: Devon: London: 1989-: 665).
