11/218 Legge monument in churchyard, about 5m east of north gate to Bell Lane from churchyard, Church of St. Peter and St. Paul

GV II

Chest tomb; probably 1834; ashlar. Plain lid, moulded edge, rectangular reeded pilasters at corners, framing raised rectangular panel with moulded edge and scalloped corners to long sides; anthemia in corners. Ends similar but raised circular panel.

Moulded top to plinth, which sets out for pilasters. To Major General Richard Legge, died 1834, his wife died 1845, a Bennett died 1841; other inscriptions. Design same as adjoining monument to Bennett family, (q.v.).
