11/217 Bennett monument in churchyard, about 2m east of north gate to Be Lane from churchyard, Church of St. Peter and St. Paul

GV II

Chest tomb; early C19; ashlar. Plain lid, moulded edge, rectangular reeded pilaster at corners, framing raised rectangular panel with moulded edge and scalloped corners to long sides, anthemia in corners. Ends similar, but raised circular panel.

Moulded top to plinth, sets forward for pilasters. Inscriptions to members of Bennett family, 1816 to 1844, some on lid. Lettering well cut: Gothic lettering in first line of 1824 inscription; some italic lettering. Design same as adjoining monument to Major General Richard Legge, (q.v.).
