SO 51 SE COLEFORD BANK STREET (north side)
4/1 Nos 1 and 2 (Crown House)
Former house and bank, now offices (Forestry Commission District Office). Main range late C18, with C19 extensions to left, rear and right. Plastered with tooled stone dressings, tiled roof, brick end stacks. Classical style. 2 storeys. Plain pilaster strips at corners; 5 sash windows, middle 3 breaking forward under pediment with traceried circular window. Triple keystones and voussoirs to all windows but centre 1st floor window under round arch with impost blocks. Fielded 6-panel door with transomed fanlight over. Decorative C19 wooden trellis porch with swept lead roof. Some Gothick tracery to single storey wing on right.
Interior: some original joinery, staircase with original handrail and balusters.
Range to left - mid C19 2-bay slate roof, plastered walls, brick end stacks. 2 storeys.
2 windows, glazing bar sashes. 2 long panels to door on street side.
