EDINGTON TINHEAD ROAD ST 95 SW (west side) 5/170 The George Inn 11.9.68 GV II Coaching inn. Early C18 and C19. Painted brick, stone slate roof with brick stacks. L-plan. Two-storey, 3-window. Planked door to right of centre with 4-light casement with shutters to left and 15-pane sash to right. Three-brick dentil plat band to first floor; one blind window and two 2-light casements. Wing projecting to right is partly C19 with 6-panelled door and C19 three-light casements either side, first floor has blocked window, 2-light and 3-light casements, right return has planked cellar door and 3-light casement to ground floor, rear has lean-to extensions.
C19 range parallel to rear of main range has 16-pane sashes and planked doors. Interior has chamfered beams. Tinhead Road was formerly part of the turnpike between Bath and Salisbury over Salisbury Plain.
